Score up to 48 goalsTo use this code, first turn on the appearance mode to 1010100000000000 (You will get the small players). Pick a player and when you almost reach the goalie, skate right or left in a half semi-circle and just shoot! The goalie will have no chance to block the shot! This way, you can score up to 48 goals in the shootout mode or when you have a breakaway!
Be Wayne Gretzky and the New York RangersGo to the main menu screen and go up to where it says Play Game but don't click yet. Press any of the C buttons and hold it. While holding press start and you will instantly be Wayne Gretzky and the New York Rangers. 
Score is always Them 1 - You 0During a game, pause it and go to Options. Hold L and press C-Left 9 times. The Specials digits should be: 0000001000000000. Now continue the game. The game will end, and no matter what the score was before you paused it, it will now be Them 1 - You 0. This also works if you enter the code before a game and disable it when paused. The only way to turn the code off/on without ending the game is to do it immediately after a goal is scored or at a faceoff before the puck is dropped.
Fight every 5 to 20 secondsAt the options screen, hold down the L button, and push the following buttons: Right C, Left C, Left C, Right C, Down C, Up C, Up C, Down C, Left C, Right C, Right C, Left C, Right C, and finally Left C. Make sure you held down the L button the whole time when you pressed thosebuttons. If you did the code correctly, you should get into a fight every 5 to 20 seconds!
Custom teamsTo start out, go to the OPTIONS screen. Hold the L Button and press the Bottom C Button twice, Top C Button twice, Bottom C Button twice, Right C Button twice and Bottom C Button once. The word "SPECIALS" with a string of 16 zeros will appear at the bottom of the screen. Exit the OPTIONS MENU and go to the TEAM STATS screen. Press the Top C Button 10 times. Two team names will appear. Use the Control Pad to scroll through the team names. Once you have the two teams that you want to modify, press the A Button. You will only be able to copy other players to these teams, you won't be able to copy players on these teams to another team.After pressing the A Button, the first team roster you are going to modify will appear on the left, and a roster for one of the other teams in the game will appear on the right. Press the B Button to scroll through the teams on the left until you see the team you want to "draft" a player from. Use the Control Pad to highlight a player on each team. The player on the left will be swapped with the player on the right. When you have the players you want to trade selected, press the A Button. You can replace as many players as youwant and even replace all the members of the left hand team with duplicates of the same player. Once the left hand team roster is set the way you want it, press Start.Your second potential custom team roster will now appear on the left. You can now modify this team the same way you did the first one. When you're done, press Start to return to the TEAM STATS screen. Your custom teams will now be available in one-player, multi-player and even Season mode. Note that only two custom teams can exist at a time, and if you repeat this process, you will erase any teams you already created. 
Flaming NetWhen you take a shot on goal you can set the net on fire by hitting the bottom C button and the A button at the same time. You will set the net on fire if the flaming puck gets past the goalie NOTE: Sometimes this trick might not work properly.
Guaranteed goalThis is a guaranteed goal, but hard. Skate between the 2 face-off circles. Do the same thing as the flaming net.(a and bottom c) If the puck kicks in, the goal with the net will be thrown back to the boards. 
Power CheckSet yourself to do a normal check. Press bottom c with left c and you will send the person you checked doing backflips. You might have done this before and didn't know how to do it on purpose. 
Super teamsOn the Options Screen, before you've picked your team, hold down the L button (on top of the controller.) While you're holding down the L button, press Right C, Left C, Left C, Right C, Left C, Left C, Right C, Left C & Left C. When you go to the team selection screen, you should see four "super" teams: Canada, USA, 99ers and Williams.
Re-center the screenOn any screen hold R and L and you can re-center the screen. Release R and L to keep it in it's altered position. If you want to return to normal just hit R and L again. 
View the creditsTo view the credits, complimented with pictures, hit "A" 20 times at the title screen.
Invisible playersDuring the opening faceoff sequence, pause the game, and select replay. Make a player flash by pressing R or L and then press Z while they are flashing. This will cause that player to disappear. You can do this to more than one player, so you can make a whole team of invisible players. 
Two-players in the practice modeYou need two controllers or more to do this one. When you get to the main menu, move the joystick onto Practice mode and press A & hold it on one controller. Then at the same time, press A & hold it on another controller. It will let two-players in the practice mode. 
CodesThere is a code to play the game with squashed players, huge players, adistorted announcers voice, stretched players, big headed and baby headedplayers, or a combination of some of the above! Go to the options screen and push R and either c-up, c-left, or c-down. this will open up a numeric specials option. the first two numbers are controlled by c-down, the second pair by c-left, and the third pair by c-up.
